Any recommendations for good firewall?

I was wondering if anyone had a good firewall (software) for Mandrake Linux 8.2 since I finally got my Internet and ICS set up.
Thanks.

If you want a gui with explanations try guarddog - its the closest to M$ stuff. If you are adventurous and like to configure yourself give mason a try.

Good in what context? If it is a business environment you may want to look at CheckPoint FW-1 or PIX. For a home environment I would suggest you look at iptables.

Why not iptables for "work" ??

Assuming your organization has <1000 people, why not?

While I personally might use it, it really depends on the mind set of the company. Some will simply not use products that are not supported by a contract.

Well... being a newb at Linux (still), I'm kinda wary of configuring stuff in terminal like iptables and such... maybe I'll give guarddog a try. Btw, this is for home use, not corporate.

I really like mason - for one thing: if it screws up it is my problem - mason creates the rules if i don't catch one that is wrong; my problem.
With firewalls you get off the internet or anywhere else yo don't know what rules they make;have to find out or be happy with it.

Talking

You can go to www.Linuxdoc.org and check out the IP Masquerade howto for masquerading and a firewall.

Have fun,
Eric
