I have tried searching for this on linuxquestions.org as well as ubuntuforums.org however i haven't found any fix?
I installed Kubuntu last night (Dual boot with XP) and I use ADSL via a 4 way router that is "always on" so in XP i don't dial up or anything...
In kubuntu i tried opening konqueror and it wouldn't load any pages. I opened up konsole and typed pppoeconf - if just gave me an error saying "access concentrator of your provider did not respond. please check your network and modem cables. Another reason for failure may also be another process running pppoe......"
I looked at the network settings and it sees my ethernet connection (eth0).
Im not sure how to fix this? ADSL works perfectly in XP...
Distribution: Fedora, Mandriva, PCLOS, SUSE - anything a can get my hands on

If you don't dailup in xp it means that your router is setup to connect to your your ISP. Set you Linux pc to receive a ip automatically from DHCP (your router). It will supply you with the correct ip, subnet and gateway (the ip of your router).
You should then be able to connect to the internet without using pppoe.
If you still can't connect, maybe you have a firewall problem. Try to disable it. In console type:
I changed some settings in guarddog and my connection is working. My download speed is fine, however my webbrowsing is incredibly slow (feels like dial-up)
