2x Computers with Slackware 9.1 NFS/Internet PPPD sharing
There have been many SIMILAR questions asked as I have been searching and reading up and generally trying to comprehend, but I canīt find anything this is not talking about red hat or cable modem stuff or samba stuff!!!!!
I have setup my little LAN (Two computers) both running Slackware 9.1 (and I have a switch if that has anything to do with anything)
I have it all working so I can ping my machines from one another and the loopback.
I have a dial out internet connection on one of the machines I want to share internet access with my other computer.
I also want to be able to share files between the two computers.
From what I can read Samba is not for me for the moment as I donīt want to share with windows for now.
Has anyone seen and BASIC guide to setup somthing like this with BASIC easy to follow examples????
I have been reading about IP tables and about NFS and SAMBA but I canīt find some really basic step by step instructions to this up.
NFS is the quick way to go about it, it sets up whatever folders you ask as shared, and another computer mounts them like part of the hard drive.. very quick to use...
As for setting up these things in slackware... well, you'll have to find a howto somewhere. I'm used to Suse, and all I need to do to set up connection sharing, NFS, Samba, TFTP.. and a dozen other services, is click a button and follow the questions...
Thanks but this is exactly why I am asking this question!!
Because it doesnīt seem there are these īwizzardsī to setup stuff like this with Slackware.
The information I can find either seems to be directed at Redhat/Mandrake users or really complicated and without clear basic examples for what I need to do
