Where can I see logs?

Hi all!

I'm running Linux Mint 11, and it has been running fine for a while now.
Today, all of a sudden, it has happened to me twice within 30 minutes that while I'm browsing via Chrome, it seems that the gnome session terminates and logs me out.
A black screen suddenly appears with some output but it goes by too quickly and then I'm at the login screen. Everything I was doing is lost.

Where can I find logs for this kind of error in order to track down what exactly is happening..

The only thing that has changed today is that LinuxMint artwork package was updated....

Is there any one log in particular that I should look at?

A good place to start is the /var/log directory and look at any logs that have changed recently.

Thanks, I'll have a look and see if I can find anything that might be useful.

Humm, I'm now thinking this is an flash issue.

This has only happened when I press the "Back" button on my browser. It happens seldom, and I can't recreate it on demand.
But I googled around and found that others have been having similar problems.
Something in flash crashes so you get kicked out of your Gnome session.

I'm now trying a fix I found on Google; I disabled hardware acceleration in the flash player.....now I just have to wait and see!
