Priter driver downloaded from distribution does not work

I Have an Epson L360 printer. I have just installed Linux mint cinamon and need to print some pages. I downloaded the escpr epson printer driver from the distrbution. It claims to be good for all epson printers but it does not make my Epson L360 print.

Please give some advice. Should I try and download the correct driver directly from Epson website?

When you attempt to print, do you get any errors reported? Just no printing takes place? One can examine the CUPS error log (/var/log/cups/error_log) for filter errors that may be occurring. Sometimes, it can be down to missing libraries needed to support the filters.

This can be used to put CUPS into debug mode for more verbose logging
Code:
sudo cupsctl --debug-logging
More info here...
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems

This will tell us printer status and configured printer URI
Code:
lpstat -t
This will confirm which driver is configured
Code:
sudo egrep - i "name|model|filter" /etc/cups/ppd/*

There's no harm in trying that, but if/when printing doesn't work as expected you'll need to employ diagnostic steps (like those already mentioned) to find out out where CUPS is failing.

Your printer wasn't in the list of printers on this page so that's probably why it didn't work.
http://www.openprinting.org/driver/epson-escpr

Looks like the 'first driver' listed here is for your printer.-
It's dated 12-17-2018.

Once you accept you have to install the lsb package.
Now, there are 2 .deb packages on that page. One is for a 32-bit pc (1.12 mb) and the other is for a 64-bit (3.22 mb) machine.
