Lock Screen Won't Let Me Type Anything in Password Box...

Good Morning All,

I hope someone can help me figure this out as I have never had this issue before. When I press the LOCK SCREEN button the screen locks. Then when I go to unlock it I bring the mouse over to the PASSWORD box and I click it. No cursor shows up and I can't enter any text in the box. The only way around it is to switch user which is annoying and defeats the purpose of a lock.

Linux Mint Mate 18.2 on HP Pavilion e049wm laptop.

Any suggestions or remedies would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

When I type in ctrl-alt-L the lock screen does what it should but when I use the Lock Screen button in the MintMenu it does not allow me to type any password in the box, there is no blinking cursor either. I have to use Switch User which is a pain in the ass.

*UPDATE-last night when I signed out I used the ctrl-alt-l to lock the screen. When I logged on this morning the lock screen would not allow me to type in my password. I had to switch user, then log in.

Still a pain in the donkey...

11-30-17 Update:

For whatever reason, probably an update, it is now a resolved issue. The lock screen works as it should.

Thank you all for your help
