Grub EFI boot menu timeout not working, need 3 seconds

Using linux mint 21.1 XFCE, I need to set the boot timeout to 3 seconds, after showing the menu, just in case need to troubleshoot boot up issues. I use grub-customizer to edit my grub defaults. Thanks for the reply. It was working fine since 5.15 series. So, I suspect an update/upgrade broke my grub UEFI boot settings. I know I set grub timeout to 3, but linux mint 21.1 still counts 10 seconds. Any idea? Thanks for your time and help. Have a nice day.

There is a timeout option in the /boot/grub/grub.cfg file. If you set that to 10 and reboot without updating grub, does it change? If you set GRUB_TIMEOUT=10, you need to update grub for the change to take effect. Which did you do, or did you do both?

Smile [FIXED]

I FIXED IT within grub-customizer. what I did is as folows:

1) At the grub-customizer window, left click on the General Settings tab.

2) Left click on advance settings

3) Make sure you have these options in the list as follows:

GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu
GRUB_TIMEOUT=3
GRUB_RECORDFAIL_TIMEOUT=3

4) then run as root, like this in terminal:
CODE: SELECT ALL

sudo update-grub
5) Then reboot, and that it! SUCCESS!!!
