XPS M1210 Ubuntu Gutsy Suspend Failure

Hi everybody,

I just installed the 7.10 Gutsy Beta of Ubuntu on my XPS M1210 laptop. Everything was working fine when I was using 7.04 Feisty. Everything seems to be working perfectly still except that when I close the lid of my laptop (I set it to suspend) it will suspend, but not restore. Instead, it either reboots or shutsdown.

I played around with noapic and a few other strings at startup, but still can't seem to get it...

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated! I'm not a total linux n00b, but please bare with me.

Thanks,
Tim

As it turns out, it has something to do with the Nvidia driver. Any ideas?! I really want to use compiz-fusion!

This Worked for me

First I disabled V-sync in both compiz fusion and the nvidia driver.
Then I did the following

$ sudo nano /etc/default/acpi-support
/etc/default/acpi-support

# Should we save and restore state using the VESA BIOS Extensions?
SAVE_VBE_STATE=false
...
# Should we attempt to warm-boot the video hardware on resume?
POST_VIDEO=false

This fixed it for me and everything worked on resume. I haven't tested it much but seems to be happy.
