Toshiba Portege 300CT and ALSA
I have yet another problem with my laptop getting Slackware 9.1 working fully.
I've read all sorts of threads, articles, and web sites regarding setting up ALSA and can't find anything that will work for my computer. I've searched all through the messages on this site with no luck.
I have the following setup:
Toshiba Portege 300CT
Slackware Linux 9.1
The Toshiba has a Yamaha OPL3-SAx sound board built-in. No matter what I try in the modules.conf file I get the same thing. ALSA says 'no such device.'
OSS sees the OPL3SAx and it works, but I don't see a reason to pay for something that runs on a free operating system. So, I'm trying to get ALSA to work.
I ran alsaconf several times with no luck. The program says there's nothing there.
Has anyone SUCCESSFULLY got the OPL3SAx working on a Portege or similar laptop. I would appreciate any help. I'm still a newbie, but learning quickly.
Thanks in advance,
Jason
