I wnat to install Linux on my Toshiba Portege, which is the best?

Hello everyone...I am tired of windows so for me it is time to install Linux on my laptop even if I am ABSOLUTELY NOT an expert....

I was wondering which is the best distribution and version to full recognize and use the hardware of my laptop, like wifi internet...pcmcia ect ect...

I have a Toshiba Portege R100, Pentium M1.1, 512 ram, 40 giga hard drive.

Anyone can help me finding the best ditribution that can full work my laptpop? It would be grately appreciate...
