Roaming

I am using sidux linux on my laptop and frequently move from network to different network. Normally, I would go to my siduxcc and check my wlan0 scan for the correct network to log onto it, and then reboot my laptop to load it. I repeat this everytime I move to different locations.

Is there any debian software that keeps a permanent list of the different networks that I use frequently, and can pick and switch from that list without having to reboot? Thankyou...

Have a look at wicd: http://wicd.sourceforge.net/

It may be able to do what you are looking for. I haven't tried it myself, but hear good things about it. I believe it is in the Debian repositories.

Re: wicd

Thankyou pentode! I will give wicd a try. Someone also recommended I try wpagui but it requires a lot of work to configure it with wpasupplicant.
