Dear folks,

I'm a new computer graphics student, thinking of installing linux OS for my laptop. My laptop is Dell XPS 16 with core i7 processor.

I chosen Redhat linux, but the problem is it has several types like AS, ES, WS and Desktop. Which one is better for single user?

I'm going to install Multiple OS, first one is Window 7 in C partition, and second one is Red hat. But my main using OS is going to be Red hat.
Is this fine or other way is there to have Linux as a booting OS and Window as secondary.

Please suggest me the right way.

ES -> Enterprise Server
AS -> Advanced Server
WS -> WorkStation

Going by that, a workstation may be the best choice... assuming you do not want to use this as a server

i dont know how the licensing for RedHat goes, so if you do intend to install server apps in the future (which may be unlikely if you just want to use it for graphics editing etc..), you may want to consider CentOS.

But Maya software was officially tested for 2 OS,

1 - Redhat
2 - Fedora

But my graphics card's driver fully support for Redhat, that is the reason I chosen it. Is it possible to install Redhat WS with minimal installation???

Yes cppgraphics. You can broadly choose what to install and what not to.
