Ok, I am installing Smoothwall on a Dell Latitude CPi which is docked on a Dell Latitude C/port II.
Smoothwall goes in ok, I have transfered the correct mgmt.o file. I can connect using SSH, I have copied across a new set of pppoa3 and modem_run files. I have edited the ppp-on file to include on line 232 '-e1'.

I got some instructions from a web page that was pretty detailed.

I am sure I have done everthing right but the on the web interface it just tells me the "USB ADSL idle".

Running out of ideas...

i had the same problem, i did the Alt+F12 trick to see the output and i saw the errors

using interface ppp0
connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyp0
modem hangup
connection terminated

(those lines are repeated 3 times and on the forth attempt)

connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyp0 (it doesn't say "using interface")
ioctl (PPPIOCSASYNCMAP): inapropriate ioctl for device (25)
tcflush failed: input/output error
exit

then it continues to load snort and squid etc

i also noticed when chmod'ing modem_run and pppoa3 to transfer permissions etc to the newly uploaded files the modem_run accepted it but pppoa3.old (the original file) was set for "nobody" and the new file was set for "root"... could this be a possible reason why it won't connect?

how can i change the permission manually so it is under "nobody"?

I have the same problems, but my permissions are correct on
the modem_run and ppoa3 files.

Here's my dmesg log. The error line 'usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
usbdevfs: USBDEVFS_BULK failed dev 2 ep 0x85 len 512 ret -110' repeats many times.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
