hello people

been looking around for a minimal, basic distro that will support an old thinkpad 600, specifically the sound issues that circulate around this machine... (cs4232/6/7/xx)

had xubuntu running on it, but found it too bloaty, so tried mepis antix which just didnt suit and hated the sound then the pointer and buttons stopped working, had a crack with tinyme last night but found it difficult to log in (the numpad buttons were locked on numbers, log in as r66t!)

was thinking about an arch install then just build as desired but not much experience with anything other than debian based distros...

any advice please?



ps. im on the verge of (dare i say it) a win98 install

Why not go with Debian then?
You may wanna try tinycore if it has enough ram, 128 is good.
Tinycore is the new DSL, very similar, made by the same guy.
Very up to date and lots of apps-you only install what you want.
