I have tried FC5, FC6 ,ubuntu for 32 ,bit ubuntu for 64 bit and mandriva also all of which have failed. they all hang during installation arbitrarily they all hang while during booting.
does anyone have a fix ... is there some known solution....
I've seen another post like this one, the steps he did to install Ubuntu 7.04:
1. Press ESC to enter the text mode installation.
2. Start the live CD with options 'live noapic'
3. Wait for a bit watching white texts...
4. Wait for some more time watching the blinking '_'
5. Wait for at least 5mins, I had my dinner at that time
6. Gnome loads finally, whoooh!
7. Start the install and proceed the normal way.
Maybe it was random luck, but i assume your at the point of trying anything.
Another thing to look into is your driver for your video card, BIOS included, there's a rumor going around some BIOS for laptops are being coded to work only on windows.
I have had issues with an Old HP, doing the same thing, it took me like 4 hours to install XUBUNTU, i dont have the thing right now, but when i get it back (i lent it with a install of ubuntu that I finally got to work OK - to someone whos DELL laptop crashed) ... i'm assuming i will probably continue to have issues with it when i install the operating system of my choice... anyway, this is not much of a helpfull post, but i hope you do find a solution, seeing as i had to install OS's like 10 times b 4 i got the ubuntu i didnt want (6.10) to work, when i wanted 7.04) + the partitions are nor set how i would like to leave them.....
