new laptop linux boot fail

I just bought a HP Pavilion dv6-6145dx from best buy with windows 7, I have used Wubi to install ubuntu , after trying to boot with ubuntu it then had some screen flashes and stayed black. I then used wubi to install kubuntu and same booting problem. Then i opened wubi and Wubi had a problem uninstalling and said this:

An error occurred:
Error executing command
>>command=C:\Windows\sysnative
bcdedit.exe/delete
{ec3d40ec-d244-11e0-bf69-8613fd0415bd} /f
>>stderr=An error occurred while attempting to delete the specifired entry.
The system cannot find the file specified.

>>stdout=

for more information, please see the log file:
c:\users\anonym~1\appdata\local\temp\wubi-11.10-rev245.log

I could not find this log file. So I went to my hard drive and deleted the folder "Ubuntu".

Then I reopened Wubi and it let me install Mythbuntu.
After i reboot computer the only two OS's it lets me pick from is Windows 7 and Kubuntu.
I clicked Kubuntu yet the same failed boot and left with zombie black screen.

Im confused and only have 10 days left to return computer if i don't want it and If it's not compatible with ubuntu or one OS that can run same applications.

oh and for more info, my puppy linux cd worked and it even loader the new version which i was also confused about

any Help is greatly apprieciated. Thanks again

I have never been a fan of wubi since it failed on me twice. Others swear by it however.

Does the ubuntu live cd work live?

Did you check the iso and did you burn it at slowest speed?

Looks like a pretty good laptop. Why don't you just run a free virtual machine. It would be the most simple easy way.

I have not tried a CD yet I guess that is my next step.

What is a free virtual machine?
