Network driver not avaiable anywhere to configure network on hp pavilion dv6000

I have hp pavilion dv6000 and installed redhat linux 4 with kernel , i have tried all the options to get up on a network but lost hope.
I am able to self ping but i have observed that in the file modprobe.conf i have noticed that the against eth0 its shows unknown therefore i concluded that this intel pro/100 ve network connection does not work on redhat linux 4 and on hp pavilion dv6000 laptop.
can anyone please help me to find a driver or give me a fix . its been annoyingly a week now that i am trying .

thanks in advance.

In this situation you have 2 options. 1: update your kernel. 2: download the latest driver source code and compile it yourself.
will show you which modules you have loaded. Post the output. regardless of which option you choose we'll need to know which module RH is loading.
