modem detection in openSUSE 10.3


hello
i have openSuSE 10.3 on vaio vgn-sz640.my modem is not detect by suse and i can not connect to internet.what should i do? by the way i use gnome.

What kind of modem is vaio vgn-sz.my modem ?
If it is a hard modem try yast2>network devices>modem to configure you,re modem It will ask you a lot information for instance
the telephone number you,re username and password and so on

Use YaST and select 'Software Management' from the right panel and install a program called wvdial. The wvdial program will need to be setup and there are at least two soft modem drivers on the Suse dvd and one will probably work with your laptop. Open terminal as root and run 'lspci' and it will give the modem and numbers
