modem detection

I have a problem detecting an external modem on fedora core 2
the modem is linked through the USB port
it's name is
Hayes ACCURA V.92 USB Model H08-15350

can any body help me please???

try dmesg to see if its detected try cat /proc/usb if not then you probably need to recompile your kernel. you might try a usb to serial adapter
