ACPI sleep states are experimental at least in kernel 2.6.8 which is the last one I've configured. I'd check if somebody at
www.linux-laptop.net or
www.tuxmobil.org has installed Linux on your model. Maybe they've found a solution.
You could also try "apm" instead of "acpi". Both are most likely to cause headaches, so it's a matter of taste
. Linux kernel can also be configured to do a "suspend-to-disk" without either "apm" or "acpi". This code is also more or less experimental. It requires kernel support as well as software which is probably available as a rpm package.
