Hello; my name is Tomas and this is my problem:
I just installed Ubuntu Breezy on my work's laptop (the first laptop I've ever used, BTW), and I noticed everything looks unacceptably blurry with any resolution other than 1024x768.
I went to Wikipedia, and I found out (pardon my ignorance) that LCD monitors only work well at their native resolution, and they scale badly with any other.
So, I'd like to know if there's any setting to solve or minimize this effect in Ubuntu, because high resolutions really hurt my eyes (I'm used to 800x600!).
I already tried to configure the video card (ProSavage) settings, but couldn't find an entry for that in Ubuntu's menus. And I also read about some command-line tools (like Xconfigurator and XF86Setup), but couldn't find them even in Synaptic.
BTW, I saw (somewhere in a terminal window; can't remember where exactly) that the output is set to CRT instead of LCD... could this be a cause? If so, how do I change that?
Before someone suggests it, I already know I could just increase the font size and leave the resolution as it is, but many things don't look right after that... not to mention everything non-textual still looks tiny.
