Thanks for your help about the different version of Mandrake.

I downloaded and installed MDK 10.1 RC1 and installed it. the install went fine and i set up the screen as 1024*768 at 16 million colours.

When mandrake booted up, the resolution was only 640*480 and i had to move the mouse to the right and left to see other parts of the desktop!!!

also the fonts were "messed up"; i had to change the font size from 12 to 15.

i also couldn't see the bottem of forms and dialogs and as i am a newbie, i didn't kno how to change the resolution on the command line

my sys spec:

LCD monitor upto 1024*768
ATI Rage 128 PRO 32 MB graphix card
Pentium 4 2.4 Gz

pleaseeeeeee can you help me??????????

i really want to learn about linux.
