I have a Gateway 4520 GZ laptop. I installed Slackware 10 last night, and got KDE working great. The only two problems I am having are sound and my touchpad mouse. I looked in another topic about the mouse, and the solution sounded like it would be to change the input device to ps/2, I did that, and it still won't work. My usb mouse works just fine still, but nothing I do will let me use my touchpad mouse.
I give up for now. I tried what that topic said, and KDE won't start, and now I can't even run xf86config, so I don't know what the hell happened. Anyways, thanks for trying to help. The only distro that works, mostly, is suse, and I really do not like suse. Even then, suse didn't even get sound working right from the start. I can't even get Debian to start kde, which I wish I could, since it's my favorite distro. If someone can give me some magical solution, then great, but at the moment I'm sick of messing with linux on this laptop. Though in a couple days, I'll probably just try again.
wow I'm a moron, I forgot it was xorgconfig instead of xf86config. I was just so mad at that moment, I forgot. Anyways, right now I don't have the time or patience to install linux, with college and whatnot. Rest assured that in the future I will try again. Thanks for the help though.
