laptop partitions config
Hi there....
I'm about to get a laptop, which I'm planning to dual boot WinXP/Mandrake...
My first question is: since I'm going to use it at work (connected to a server from which I currently mount "/home" in my desktop) and at home (where I do not have the work server), what would be the best partitioning/mounting config I can set it up so that I can ALWAYS have the same /home folder???
My option at the moment would be to have it set in the laptop (not mounted from the server) always and just back it up often to the server, so that I don't have the risk of loosing my data. Is that the ideal set up? Any other ideas?
The second question is: at work it will be connected to the Internet/LAN all the time, where I currently load things like ntp/nis/nfs...that won't be available from home, so can I (easily) set different boot procedures, so that it does not hang when the network connections are not there? Or don't I need that?
Thanks a lot for any views/comments/suggestions.
mmiranda.
