Unhappy Keyboard does not type properly

Hello - Please can someone offer any advice. I am using Ubuntu and have a T42 Laptop. Only recently my keboard is typing strangely. Foe example if I type an M I get a different letter and so on.

I have been on the Ubuntu forums and it seems it could be a problem with Linux.

Sorry to be vague but I am very inexperienced.

Thanks.

I'm guessing you may have an incorrect keymap set for your keyboard.
Which country are you from?

Could you also post the contents of the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file here?
