Internet Problems

Hello,

So I have an Old Toshiba 430CDT Laptop, Pentium 120, 16mb or 32mb Ram I cant remember, and 1.2GB HD. Ive been trying for months to find a Linux Distro small enough and capable enough to run on this less then appealing set of hardware specs. Finaly after hours of hair pulling, I finaly Installed DeLi Linux, with Fluxbox as the windows manager. Everything runs pretty smooth im quite happy.

My question is, how in the world do i set up internet? I have 2 open PCMCIA slot and have a D-Link DE-660+ PCMCIA Ethernet PC Card 16-bit and the Adapter that plugs into it alowing 1 ethernet cable. Im a new born baby to linux and not sure where to go or what to do. Ive read that you have to manully install 'modules'

Anyway if someone could give me a Helping hand, that would be superb, Keep in mind im very new to linux.

Thanks in Advance,
-UberT

Did you ever try DSL? ( Damn Small Linux ) The current version is using Knoppix hardware detection, and seems good at detecting cards. DSL can be run as a live CD, so no need to re-install to try it out. You do need a CD drive to boot from. If the network runs, you can open a console and do a lsmod command and see what modules got loaded. One will be for your PCMCIA card ( if it is detected ).

Once you know what module ( driver ) you need, then you can see if your distro has a driver for the card. You can load a driver with the command 'modprobe modulename'

This is the easy way. The hard way is to try and figure what module supports your card. ( If there is one). D-Link cards are likely to have one. You can try googling to find one.
