I'm very new to the whole Linux thing and hope you will be able to assist me.

I'm trying to install Fedora Core 5 on my Laptop (Acer Travelmate 2350).

When I boot up with the first disk I get a "broken up" Fedora Logo on my screen and If I press enter to continue with the installation I get an error telling me that the kernel could not be found.

I have used more than one set of media (CD's and DVD) and I still get the same. I thought it could be my DVD Rom / CD-RW, but managed to install Ubuntu ver 5.10.

Do yu know of any incompatibilites between Fedora Core 5 and my Acer Travelmate 2350 Notebook, or a way to overcome this?

1st of all, I am acer laptop user, I strong recommend you go for ubuntu or kubuntu, this is the only distro can make your battery/ac_adapter sensor work. The fedora, suse, mandrake, yoper, centos, redhat, gentoo all need to work hard.
And ubuntu seems work well.. at least for me.
