IBM 600E internel modem debian sarge

Hi,

I installed the Debian Sarge on my laptop IBM-Thinkpad-600E. But the internel modem is not working. I tried the debian package "mwavem" and failed. I did everying following the "ACP-modem-mini-how-to" and failed.

When I execute:
#modprobe mwave
I have:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/lib/modules/2.4.27-2-686/kernel/drivers/char/mwave/mwave.o: init_module: Input/output error
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.27-2-686/kernel/drivers/char/mwave/mwave.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.27-2-686/kernel/drivers/char/mwave/mwave.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.27-2-686/kernel/drivers/char/mwave/mwave.o: insmod mwave failed
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OR when I execute:
#apt-get install mwavem
I have:

I think the problem is the same. the mwave module can't be installed. I tried every evalue of IO and IRQ, but it is still not working. It has taken me more than one week on it. Very frustrating. Anyone has suggestion?

Perhaps your modem is not supported by that particular mwave module?

It should be supported. I guess the reason might be all the irqs and addresses the "mwave" module uses are used by other hardwares. I tried to find the table of used irqs and addresses, but haven't figured out yet. Anyone knows how to check out that?
