Hang on Battery Power

Hi..

I have Acer Aspire 3002NLC notebook. Yesterday I installed Mandriva Linux 10.2. Everything is successfully installed and working but I have few issues.

1. When my notebook is working on direct power(DC power), everything works fine. But the moment there is no direct power and notebook startes working on Battery, my notebooks get hang. I can not do anything, not even move the mouse then. I am not able to get the reason .

2. My notebook is connected to my LAN and there is no Firewall or Proxy in between. From notebook console prompt I can ping all internet sites, but when I try to browse using browser (currently firefox), it fails..I mean I can not browse any web site.

Please help me to come out of these issues..

Thanks in advance..
