Hi, I'm a new here, novice with Linux and my English not så good )))
I've bought an old laptop AST Ascentia M series a couple of weeks ago and yesterday I have tried to install Fedora Core 1 on it instead of Windows 98.
The istallation seems to go well, but in texting mode. Linux do not probe for monitor and video card. After installation, when the laptop is rebooting, it displays "fail" for "interface eth0 not found"
After I login as admin I try to start it by typing "startx" but I get just error messages like:
(EE) Unable to locate/open config file
(EE) Error from xf86HandleConfigFile ()

Fatal server error:
no screens found

XIO: fatal IO error 104 ( Connection reset by peer on X server ":0.0"

I don't really know how to fix this installation and I hope someone kan explaine me what to do. Another thing is a commands for Linux. Where can I get those?
