extra ports for speakers and mic not recognised

i am using fedora 6 on my hp dv 2046 laptop. it is able to recognise the inbuilt speakers and mic but the external mic and speaker ports are not recognised ...
what should i do???

Upgrade your sound drivers. Your system should be supported by alsa-driver-1.0.14 or better with alsa-driver-1.0.15rc2. You can download them from

If, after installing the latest driver (1.0.15rc2) you still have problems, please reply with the link generated from this script.
