DSL doesn't boot on Compaq armada 1592DT

Hi!... I tried to use damm small linux on my old compaq armada 1592DT, I'm trying to do it via usb pendrive... But the pendrive doesn't seem to boot.... Will i have to try out the cd images?... Or can i any other better distro for my computer?

Hello Shashank,

I do not know specifically about the Compaq Armada, however, most older computers (older than about 5 years) are not capable of booting from USB. You can verify if this is true from your bios.

Is your computer capable of booting from CD or floppy? Is there an OS currently installed, or is the hard drive blank?

I think DSL would be an excellent choice, if you're able to get it working. Good luck!

There's windows 98 installed on it currently. Its bios shows it can boot from the floppy but i'm unsure about the cd drive...
