distro

I have this thinkpad 380ed with a 166 processor,80 mb of ram and a 3.1 gig hard drive.I was wondering what would be the best version to download.I've installed ubuntu 5.04 but it didn't recognize the graphics chip(Neo Magic).Also I have tried live cd's but cd drive isn't fast so it was very slow using those. I would like to run xwindows, so any help will be appreciated.

Hmmm.... I used to run Red Hat Linux 6-9 and had FC1 on an old TP380ED myself, the LCD died so it is now history. Just about any 2.4 kernel based distro should work just fine. Try installing one of those live Linux CD's to the hard drive many have installation instructions.

Damn Small Linux, Morphix and Xfld seem like good choices;

Or visit distrwatch and pick one that sounds/looks good to you;
