cpufreqd can't start (Couldn't set profile "Performance High" set for cpu0)

Hello!
I'm trying to make cpufreqd work on my computer. I've got an ASUS M6NE series laptop, with a Pentium M cpu, kernel 2.6.19 with acpi and cpufreq stuff installed.

When i start cpufreqd, i get:
Code:
apm_init : /proc/apm: No such file or directory
pmu_init : /proc/pmu/info: No such file or directory
nforce2_post_conf : Unconfigured, exiting.
plugins_post_conf : Unable to configure plugin nforce2_atxp1, removing
cpufreqd_set_profile : Couldn't set profile "Performance High" set for cpu0 (1500000-1500000-performance)
cpufreqd_loop : Cannot set policy, Rule unchanged ("none").
If i start cpufreqd with the -V7 (max verbosity option), it seems to be working - it is able to find which rule matches the current power state, and tries to use the profile set for that rule.

Does anybody know why it doesn't work?
Thanks!

Oops... No "performance" governor built in the kernel. Anyway, i've recompiled and rebooted, now cpufreqd starts, syslog shows that it's working (it continuously reads acpi states, and applies the matching rules), but there is no /proc/cpufreq file, which i thought should be created.

[checking if it's really working]

It seems to be working (it's running on batteries and the cpu frequency has lowered to 600 MHz), but if i run cpufreqd-get or cpufreqd-set they don't work (no cpufreqd socket found)... And there's no /proc/cpufreq.

Is this normal?

Hya,

My penguin (Debian etch, P4-clockmod) looks similar to your penguin. cpufreqd-get/set says no socket. /sys/...../cpufreq directory shows changes in frequency, Also, heat generated is less.

Happy Penguins!
