"Connection to BlueZ failed" Can't use bluetooth manager??

I'm using an inspiron 1545 and am unable to pair my Earforce px5 headset with my laptop because the manager won't run. My bluetooth is internal and i can't see what the problem is, but i am very new to linux (running ubuntu 10.10) so i dont know where to start. The error message is "Connection to BlueZ failed: BlueZ daemon is not running, blueman-manager cannot continue." Any help with very simple explinations is much appreciated, I won't be able to follow any linux lingo, so please be as clear as possible. Thanks : /

Linux lingo impaired

The reason is that the Bluetooth daemon failed to load. Check with dmesg

type $ dmesg | less | grep "bluetooth" (or daemon name)

There has to be a reason that the daemon is not loading try:

type $ cat syslog | less | grep Bluetooth (daemon name)

PS don't type the dollar sign, that is just one of many command line PS items.

When you get some more information write back.

Best I can do

lisle2011,

Thank you for trying to help.

Please put code, command line output, config files, etc. inside [CODE] tags, aka "Code:" blocks.
It will make your post easier to read, & that will make it more helpful.
BTW, you can edit your post to do this retroactively; please do so.

Thank you.

Edit: lisle2011 hasn't been back yet to see this note.

none of those commands did anything, i dont really understand how to use the terminal at all so it's hard for me to figure out what i should put in where you say "bluetooth" or whatever.

I run KDE, so I don't know how to open a console inside Gnome, do you?
The alternative is to use an old fashioned tty, but they are ugly & primitive compared to an X Window terminal.

The command is gnome-terminal.
Pressing Alt F2 should give him a window in which he can type gnome-terminal and press enter.

When you execute those commands on your terminal, you are expected to "copy" the whole output and "paste" it here (in code tags: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...do=bbcode#code) for others to see.
Simply saying "didn't do anything" is NOT helpful.
