Question Compaq Evo N160 & Mandrake 9.1 - Power Management

Hi there,

as I mention in the subject of this thread, I have a Compaq Evo N160 and I have just upgrade my Linux OS from Mdk 8 to 9.1.
Neither in Mdk 8 nor 9.1, my laptop are able to suspend, hibernate o power off (when halted I have to press the power-off button to finally turn the computer off).
I've reading some other threads about power management and I'm not sure if I should use APM or ACPI (my laptop do supports ACPI). It seems that if I want to install one of those power management drivers I have to recompile the kernel. This is something that I prefer to avoid right now.

Does anyone with Compaq+Mandrake have had this problem and he/she was able to overtake it?

Thanks in advance,
Juanix

I have an Evo N160 running RedHat 9 and as well haven't been able to enable APM, seems have to configure the kernel and recompile in order to make it work.

Other than that it works cool, let me know what other apps and bugs you find on the laptop, thanks in advance

Thumbs up

Thanks to you, Antonio.

It seems I would have to start reading info about compiling the kernel...
