Broadcom Wireless trouble

Hi there. I'm having trouble getting my wireless adapter to work with Slackware 12.0. It's a Broadcom 802.11 b/g card and a Gateway notebook. I have the windows native drivers and I installed ndiswrapper and ran 'ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf' to install the driver. But when I run 'ndiswrapper -l' it says device:

bcmwl5: driver installed
device (14E4:4320) present (alternate driver: bcm43xx)

The bcm43xx module loads fine during bootup but says something about Radio disabled and I can't seem to locate any networks in range like I can when booted in Windows. Do I need to enable the Radio setting somehow or do I replace that module with the ndiswrapper configuration?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

bcm43xx _or_ ndiswrapper - pick one, you cannot use both.

If you want to use ndiswrapper - add bcm43xx to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

If you want to use bcm43xx - You will need to get hold of firmware for the card (read here for more), then run 'ifconfig <wireless interface> up' to load the firmware and activate the card before scanning.

Hi. Thanks for the help. I added the perimeters 'blacklist bcm43xx' to the file you instructed but when I reboot and type 'ndiswrapper -l' again it still says that it is using bcm43xx as an alternate driver. ndiswrapper appears to be working fine, so how can I change it so that it loads at boot time rather than the other driver?

I also tried going with the alternate driver but when I try extracting the firmware from the .o file I get a message saying the md5sum doesn't match or something...
