atheros AR5007EG and fedora 8


can you help me how to make wireless card atheros AR5007EG work on Fedora 8
in my laptop... regards

Searching here for that chipset will give some pretty detailed setups. But you need the kernel source installed, Download the cvs version of madwifi and compile that. The ones in rpm form I don't think support that chipset yet. I could be wrong. Also you will need to blacklist the ath5k module as well. many post on these subjects.

If do not want to deal with patching, download this readily patched driver:

http://snapshots.madwifi.org/special...+ar5007.tar.gz

Install it and blacklist ath5k module.
After reboot I hope it will work.
Worked for me.
To use driver and utilities (wlanconfig...) read README file in driver pack.

Note that the patch referred to by almora99 is for 32-bit only.

An alternative path is to use nsdiswrapper with the Windows XP driver. (No, I haven't tried this, but others seem to use it with success).

Does this card support packet injection ?

AR5007EG support packet injection with packet injection .

I plan to but a laptop with this card which is
