Asus z33 lspci and intel 915GM sound modules question

I have an asus z33a notebook

It is running 2.6.12.2 and has no sound at all.
As far as I am concerned, Intel's site says the GM express runs the hda codec
am I missing a module possibly?

The board: Mobile Intel 915GM Express Chipset

I ran: alsaconf, alsamixer, the speakers should be 'up'

I do not hear anything not even white noise ... but the driver is recoginzed in alsamixer/alsaconf

from lsmod:
Module Size Used by
snd_hda_intel 12512 0
snd_hda_codec 55936 1 snd_hda_intel
snd_pcm 83208 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec
snd_timer 21316 1 snd_pcm
snd 46564 4 snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_pcm,snd_timer
snd_page_alloc 7684 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm
psmouse 28676 0

I simply fixed my lspci problem by donwloading the latest
'pci.ids'
from sourceforge.net

Now my devices are "recoginzed" still no sound.

Ok finally got sound working
Here goes...
1) Installed Alsa Libs 1.0.9, Alsa Drivers 1.0.9b Alsa Utilities 1.0.9a from www.alsa-project.org

2) Downloaded the 880 (Azalia aka Intel HD audio) driver from Realtek:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True

3) Followed their readme

4) Copied their provided 'modules.conf' to my 'modules.conf' and 'modprobe.conf' (for 2.6.x kernels in my case: 2.6.12.3)

5) found a mp3 and used mpg321 to play it... WOOHOO! sound! (after alsamixer adjustment... turn the vols up and unmute)

Hope that helps anyone with the same problem!

-Matt
