apmd problem on Aurox (suspend mode)
Hi.
I've recently installed Aurox Linux 9.1 on my laptop (Aristo 8800). The problem is that my computer goes automatically to suspend mode after about 1min 40s. When I press a key, it wakes up, and after next 1min40 it goes again to sleep.
I had the same problem with one of the previous versions of Mandrake (8.2? I'm not sure), but it was only in the console mode. And in recent Mandrake versions the problem has been fixed.
I tried stopping apmd or removing it from rc.d, but this doesn't help. I also set in bios the entries 'power management' and 'suspend mode' to disabled, but this doesn't help either.
I've searched google and found some answers on the page winischhofer.net/linux.shtml (about SIS630 laptops):
"If you're using a dual boot Linux/Windows configuration, you will have to switch off the computer after using Windows and restart it once on battery otherwise it will suspend every second minute under Linux. This is probably caused by the BIOS reporting a battery charging status of more than 100% - which seems to confuse apmd. The reason why this only occurs after running Windows is unknown, but seems to relate to an APM-to-ACPI-and-back switching problem."
I've tried this and it worked; after plugging the power out, turning the computer off and on again, Aurox stopped suspending.
But I don't like it that when I want to run Windows and then Aurox, I have to plug the power out each time. Can somebody give me a better solution ?...
