apmd power/off system suspend
I am running Red Hat Linux Fedora on an old Compaq Deskpro Small form factor Pentium 2 400 Mhz pc. , the pc has an ATX power supply.
My problem is that most of the time the pc will not have a monitor plugged in and i wanted a way to gracefully shutdown the pc when hitting the power button..
I noticed that when i do hit it successfully goes into suspend, and the following message is in the messages file : apmd[1686]: system suspend. I can get out of the suspend mode no problem.
This is fine however i want to shutdown, not suspend, where can I set this ? After checking the BIOS there is only two options for when the power button is pressed. option 1. standby or option 2 normal power off-on.. I even chose option 2 but when i hit the power button this time the pc just powers of completely without Linux even recognising I pressed it.
This is really frustrating me, I want something simple so I can alter the behaviour from a standby to a shutdown
please help!
