I wish I knew someone with a PowerBook so I could play with one....

Actually, one more question.......the IBM X40 has tremendous battery life (~7 hours), what do you guys get on your PowerBooks? (I've given up on an iBook at this point.)

Good question.

Apple tauts that they have the longest batter life of any notebook, or at least they did at one point during some ad campaign. The specs on the 12" PowerBook's website rate it at 5 hours. But if the IBM line can provide 7, that's a selling point that's hard to beat.

I am of the opinion that every batter is not alike, and some are simply better than others. My old cell phone battery was great, and it lasted exactly as long as rated--before i accidentally dropped it in a puddle. My replacement lasts a good several hours shorter, and it's the exact same product. Go figure.

iBooks: Good, for college kids with iPods. Serious users would like the PowerBook more.
