A little off topic but can some help me out?

I'm doing some research on the notebook market. I was wondering if someone here can provide me a source or direction to the following question.

What I'm looking for is the total worldwide userbase of notebooks? Mean roughly how many notebook users there are worldwide. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I know this was the first year that notebook sales outpaced desktop sales, but I don't know where you could get actual user statistics. Sorry..

You could probably check out the major notebook manufacturers sales numbers. I don't think they would be that hard to get since each of them would love to tell you how they outsold their competitors.
