I'm stuck using a Mid 2016 15" MBP with retina @ work and it works relatively well except that I can't wake it up from sleep. Usually not an issue since it is plugged in most of the type and never goes to sleep, but the only way to turn it back on is to hold the power button until it completely powers off and then turn it back on.
Power button does nothing.
Closing/re-opening does nothing.
Keyboards (both built-in and USB) do nothing.
Stuff that may be relevant:
I have swap completely disabled.
Any ideas? Anyone experienced anything similar?
Thanks!
Had a similar problem, until one day a login form appeared some seconds after moving the mouse on the otherwhere dark screen (only backlight on), which asked my credentials and rebuilt the desktop. I can't reconstruct the reason for the apparent kick into the X-servers' 'backside', but since then the shutdown-to-awake is past (open SuSE 13.x).
I don't even get backlight. External monitors don't wake up. Num/Caps lock LEDs don't light up on external keyboard. No signs of life on the laptop itself either.
I don't know MBP, so I can only guess. In BIOS or UEFI-Settings sometimes there are options e.g. to dis- or enable wakeup from sleep e.g. for activities on NIC- and USB-devices, and also the differing sleep states of internal components must be in accordance to each other.
