Waking my computer up after it goes to sleep
I have Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft installed on my laptop (gateway model mx6448) and I have been experiencing problems getting it to wake up after it has gone to sleep. For instance, the laptop will sit for the 20 minutes, and then it will go to sleep. Now after it has gone to sleep I press the power button to wake it back up. The power button will turn on the blue light, which shows me the computer is active, but Ubuntu will not start back up. Does anyone have any idea how I might go about fixing this problem? At the moment I have just told my computer not to go to sleep at all, but I rather like the feature when it works.
Thanks very much in advance.

I'm not too familiar with Ubuntu, but you should look into the ACIP / Power Management settings.

Thank you for the advice, but I have tried much of that already. Most of it just gives me the basic options such as what to do in which situations, but it doesn't actually tell me how to pull it out of sleep. I am thinking I am going to have to play around with the acpid configuration files or something, but I'm not sure. If anyone knows anything about these, especially, that would be helpful. Thanks again

I have the same problem with my desktop. Others say it is fairly common for some reason so I disengaged power management. I may try and see if my BIOS power management setting will do the trick instead.

I also have noticed it's a hit and miss with the hibernate/suspend with Ubuntu. On one of my system it runs fine, however, the "system" is on a VMware server. ON my real life production machines, the hibernate feature does not work. It either gives me an error saying it cannot hibernate, or it won't come back alive. I hope they fix this in 7.04 (Coming in April 2007!)
