First, Mint 13 (maya) is old...the latest is 16, so if this is a new installation, stop where you are. Load the LATEST version of things, which may eliminate your problems.
Second, you don't provide ANY useful details...you don't tell us anything about your hardware, and you indicate that things WERE working, but then stopped after you did something. But you don't tell us what you did. Unless you provide details, there's little we can tell you.
