Menuconfig+load alternate config file option

hi there,

i guess this is one of the basic doubts i need to get answer of...i have compiled kernel 2-3 times till now...but never checked the /boot after successfull compilation...my doubt is when we opt for "load alternate config file option" does the new entry get created in /boot as config-linux-version number or the old entry is updated through this option

please clarify this doubt.

thanks

best regards,

If you are using GRUB; then you have to add a entry for the new kernel in the /boot/grub/menu.lst file. You can have just one grub config file.
