Question Memory-Allocator incorporation into kernel source code ??

Hi All,

Thanks to of you for being with me, as I am new to this forum.

My issue is, I have developed a new memory allocator. I am having its c file. My challenge is incorporation into kernel. Let say I do have x.c operation memory structures and function. Now when I am going to incorporate it into kernel...

It become too much complex, from where its taking where and what is connected. Now the problem is how to incorporate it into kernel.

I am working with 4.0 kernel with at intel/arm boards.

I request you to kindly provide details information with weblink/tutorial/pdf if available.

Regards.
Ankur

Hello Ankur,
Could you please tell us what kind of allocator is it? Does it replace SLAB/SLUB/... or it works at a different level like the pool allocator? The question is at which level you want to integrate it with the kernel?

Hi,

I want to integrate as a kernel module I.e replacement of slab locator.

The challenge is how to decide the include file and integration and tuning with rest of kernel I.e. time with storage subsystem .

Regards.

@arkernel, What you're asking is a fundamental part of kernel development! Just google 'kernel development'.
