Kernel Panic while trying to configure 2.6.16 for fglrx driver in Gentoo

So, im trying to install the fglrx (ATI proprietary) driver in my gentoo system. However, after following the directions at http://odin.prohosting.com/wedge01/g...aq.html#kernel and building the new kernel, I recieved a "kernel panic: interrupt" when trying to boot the newly compiled kernel. If you need it:
Code:
gentoo andy # lspci

I have also built in the ntfs and ndiswrapper modules, if that is needed. I'll try and get more info on the kernel panic, but it disappears almost right away.

nothing - like usual the system just freezes. Problem is i can only go a couple lines up because my terminal is really small. basically, its a lot of hex, i dont know if that helps.
