kernel (2.6.14) panic

hi all,

i am trying to upgrade my RedHat kernel 2.6.9 to 2.6.14 ,but i am getting error after sucessfully compilitation as (i.e when i tried to boot from the kernel 2.6.14) as :
ibm-acpi: ec object not found
ide1 : I/O resource 0x170-0x177 not free.
ide1 : ports already in use, skipping probe
RedHat nas version 4.1.18 starting
mkrootdev: label / not found
mount: error 2 mounting ext3
mount: error 2 mounting none
switchroot: mount failed:22
umount /initrd/dev failed:2
kernel panic - not syncing: attemped to kill init!

in fact earlier i have booted sucessfully by this kernel 2.6.14. but when i tried to recompile it ,i got the above error.

what to do?

thank in advance

There are 2 quick checks that you should do :
Check your bootloader configuration file to make sure that after the re-compilation everything is still in order.

Second, and this is only because I saw a mount error in the 2 seonds that I stared at your post, make sure you have compiled ext3 in the kernel and NOT as a module.
